About Wellness Intelligence Platform™
Built from experience.
Designed around people.
Wellness Intelligence Platform™ grew from decades of building businesses, solving problems and asking a simple question: is there a better way?
Across very different industries, the same lesson kept appearing. Better businesses are rarely created by adding more tools. They are created by understanding what is really happening, removing unnecessary friction and designing better experiences for the people they serve.
Why WIP exists
It didn't start with software.
WIP wasn't created because wellness businesses needed another app. It grew from watching owners face the same visible problems again and again.
- “We need more leads.”
- “Scheduling is a nightmare.”
- “We need better software.”
- “We're too busy.”
- “We need more automation.”
Sometimes those answers are right. Sometimes they're a symptom of something deeper.
Understand before advising. Diagnose before prescribing.
We look at the business before deciding what technology, marketing, automation or operational change actually belongs there.
The experience behind the thinking
Different businesses. The same questions.
- 01
Design
Landscaping and water features taught Derk to understand the environment before designing the solution.
- 02
Systems
Logistics taught how capacity, timing, margins, communication and processes affect one another.
- 03
Growth
Marketing and Fractional CMO work showed that attracting more people cannot compensate for a broken customer journey.
- 04
Technology
AI and custom software expanded what could be built — while reinforcing that technology should serve the business, not dictate it.
- 05
Wellness
Work with Southern Utah Swim Academy and later ZionZen Massage & Skincare showed what becomes possible when the journey, operations, technology and intelligence are designed as one connected system.
Long before WIP, Derk learned that a good water feature could not simply be copied from one property to another. The environment came first. That same idea sits at the heart of WIP: the Platform adapts to the business. The business does not have to adapt to the Platform.
Those experiences eventually converged into Wellness Intelligence Platform™. The industries changed. The questions did not.
- What is really happening?
- Where is the friction?
- What is the actual constraint?
- What should we keep?
- What should we improve?
- What is missing?
What wellness brought together
Where the pieces came together.
A scheduling challenge at Southern Utah Swim Academy helped change the way Derk thought about software. The more questions he asked, the clearer it became that scheduling was only one piece of a much larger operating experience.
Then came ZionZen Massage & Skincare — a real operating environment where many of the ideas behind Wellness Intelligence Platform™ could be built, tested and improved. What looked like separate problems turned out to be parts of one connected business.

Derk Hebdon
Founder, Wellness Intelligence Platform™
Derk is an entrepreneur, business builder and strategist whose work has crossed design, logistics, marketing, technology and wellness. Across those industries his approach has stayed the same: ask better questions, look for the hidden constraint, design around people, use technology where it improves the experience, measure what changes and keep learning. Those principles guide Wellness Intelligence Platform™ and its industry-specific Growth Engines today.
What we believe
What guides the work.
Understand first
The first problem someone describes may not be the problem that needs solving.
Design around people
Technology should support the experience — not become the experience.
Keep what works
Keep what works. Improve what doesn't. Build what's missing.
Keep improving
Measure what changes. Learn from it. Improve again.
Wellness businesses exist to help people feel better. For owners, better systems can create clarity and reduce unnecessary work. For teams, they remove repetitive friction. For clients, they make the journey easier. AI, automation, data and software are tools. People remain the point.
When the technology fades into the background and the experience becomes better, it is doing its job.
In practice
One operating model, six stages.
- Understand
- Identify
- Configure
- Implement
- Measure
- Improve
Your next step
Start by understanding what's really happening.
You don't need to know which software you need. You don't need to diagnose the problem yourself. The Growth Readiness process is designed to help uncover where the strongest opportunities may actually be.
